Articles coming soon...
Articles that I will post as soon as they are substantial enough to call presentable:
Draft title: Words to Consider When Considering “Two Words”
Background:
I often ask expectant dads consider “two words” expectant dads would like their kids to use to describe them, later in life.
Given the challenges children and youth are facing today, I have some words I’d like them to consider, so they are seen as a resource and an ally as their kids grow.
This article will some of those challenges, ideally include some solid research, and help dads prepare to help their kids.
Draft title: Strategic time off
Background
When deciding how and when to use time off, several questions should be asked.
For example: Is mom going back to work, and should dad save some of his time off for then? (almost certainly the answer is yes here).
Other questions and considerations will be presented here.
Draft title “Boss, I am going to be a dad”
Background
What are some strategies to employ / steps to take / things to appreciate when informing your boss or company that you have a baby on the way.
Pending dads are often very concerned with “work/life balance.”
Often the demands of the job, embodied in managers and others above the new father, are significant, even overwhelming.
How does a pending dad manage well this division of devotion?
Draft title: Keeping Your Lives After the Baby Arrives
Background:
In my Boot Camp sessions, I provide a two column worksheet that helps new parents make sure they get “me time” by listing those hobbies/interests/rest times the like.
Generating this list helps couples keep each other’s batteries charged, and helps insure the baby doesn’t take over all.
Trying to figure out how to provide that PDF worksheet through Substack to those who want it.
Draft Title: What Other Dads Say About Breastfeeding
Background:
This is a topic I have devoted considerable research to.
This also involves a PDF I hand off in my sessions, which I would like to provide to subscribers.
I let the dads I work with know: I believe this is the biggest support challenge they will face…bigger than the birth.
Draft title: What’s So Important about Skin-to-Skin
Draft sub-title: and three very guy reasons why we resist doing it
This will appear as soon as I’ve completed the research on it.
Draft title: New Dads and PMADs
Background:
Post-Partum Depression has a new name: Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders
And 1 in 10 dads will experience it.
The research is slowly coming in about symptoms, timeline, duration, etc.
This will likely be an article receiving periodic updates as we learn more.
Draft title: “I travel a lot for work.”
Background:
I’ve worked with many expectant dads who travel for their job.
I’ve come up with several tips and tricks to help them stay connected with the baby while they are on the road.
…and also re-connect with a baby who has missed their distinct form of connection when they return.
…and help mitigate the distinct stimulation that is lost when dad is away.
